Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC)
FTTC offers faster speeds and guaranteed throughput so you receive a better performance compared to standard broadband. Fibre broadband is ideal for customers who require higher bandwidth to improve the running of and access to multiple applications.
Our FTTC service is available in 2 variants: FTTC Standard which offers upto 40Mbps* download, upto 2Mbps* upload with a 40Gb usage allowance; and FTTC Advanced which increases the upload speed to 10Mbps* and the usage allowance to 100Gb. With both services the guaranteed downstream is 12Mbps.
*Speeds are maximum possible and the service is subject to availability.
What speed will I get?
Although services are commonly advertised as “up to” a certain speed, the actual speed you will get depends on a number of factors including how far your premises are from the telephone exchange and the quality of the phone line. We can give you a good indication of what speed you will get by putting your phone number into our ADSL checker.
Once the service is live, during the first ten days the line speed will fluctuate as it determines the fastest speed that can be consistently supported.
How long does it take to install?
Typically broadband services go live 7 working days after an order is placed
Can I get a faster install?
In critical scenarios broadband installations can be escalated. There is a one-off charge for the “fast-track” service of £140. The fast-track service can only be used once you have been given a provisional installation date. There is no guarantee that the service will be installed any quicker but the charge will only be applied if the service is activated before the original installation date.
I already have broadband from another provider – can I transfer to TNS Europe?
Of course. All you need to do is contact your current provider and ask for a MAC code (Migration Authority Code) and pass the details over to us. We will then migrate your broadband service to us.
What happens if I want to cancel my service?
Contact your account manager who will send you a cancellation form for signing. If the DSL service is being ceased completely (i.e. not migrated to another provider) there is a clear line charge of £30. This is something we get charged and simply pass it on.
What is the usage allowance for?
There are a number of different broadband packages designed for different types of use and one way we determine this is how much you will use the service. Usage allowances refer to how much data you download. By browsing the internet, using email and downloading files you are downloading data. On each broadband service we set a usage allowance as a guideline to who that service is designed for.
What happens if I go above my usage allowance?
Our usage allowances are set as a guideline. We won’t charge you if you go above it one month. However if you are found to be consistently above it we will talk to you about upgrading to a more suitable service.
What hardware do I need?
Our business broadband service is “wires-only”. However through our accreditations with several manufacturers, including Cisco and Draytek, we can provide routers and firewalls to go with your service. As well as being able to supply the hardware we have a professional services team who can provide pre-configuration and installation services.
